Mallory Wheeler Arabic Victorian Doorknobs & Escutcheons Set

Made by Mallory Wheeler circa 1880, this set is remarkably ornate featuring deep casting, drum knobs (instead of round), and a lovely varied patina. The design doesn't reflect any real Arabic lettering - as was typical of the Victorians, they saw designs from another culture that they liked, and tried to imitate them. While the design is rather distinctly "of its time," the Mallory Wheeler company was a prominent high-end hardware manufacturer through most of the 1800's, and this set is still a valuable piece of history.

Condition: Excellent antique condition. Some surface wear commensurate with age. Patina varied from natural differences in oxidation. Sold as a set, including two knobs and two escutcheons.
