This door knob was originally built to be the other side of a rim lock. Rim locks are a large, older style of lock that instead of going *in* the door went *on* the door. These knobs are great as dummy knobs for stationary sides of French doors, for curtain tie backs or even large hooks. It has a gorgeous, well earned patina. The oval of the knob is complimented nicely by the square back plate.
