This swing arm is similar to the hardware above but moves with a post and pre-drilled holes.  This rod has set positions that the window can be at and does not use screw tension.  There is virtually no chance of parts wearing out or falling off with this hardware.  Can be used for windows that open sideways or vertically.

This is one of the most utilitarian peices of hardware for any old home owner.  Perfect for those double hung windows that just won't stay up, this spring creates a little more tension between the edge of the window and the window frame to stop windows from slamming shut.  These springs are intended to be slid up either side (or one side) of the window and screwed in at the base.
