Sconces
Any light fixture mounted on a wall is traditionally called a sconce.  Sconces are available in all the styles that ceiling fixtures are:  Mission, deco, nouveau, modern, mid-century, arts & crafts, and many others.  Sconces can be used on either side of a door way or a fire place, on a front porch, in a hallway, in a bathroom, or next to the kitchen sink.  A sconce can light up a room or provide a focused spot light.  If a little extra light coupled with an added decorative touch is what you're after, a sconce can be the perfect thing.
